Rochford Estate Cabernet Franc 2024

RRP: $33.00
Trophy - Best Other Red Variety - Yarra Valley Wine Show 2025

95 Points - Halliday Wine Companion 2026

“From two blocks, both planted in the 1980s. No new oak. A very bright crimson purple. Red and black fruits intermingle with violets and hints of bay leaf and dried herbs. Medium bodied, with immediate appeal, the silky tannins practically melt in the mouth! A well-priced and delicious wine that totally deserved its trophy for the Best Other Red at last year's Yarra Valley Wine Show. Drink now and over the next three to four years.”
- Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

Tasting Notes: This old vine Cabernet Franc really pops from the glass with plenty of charm! Aromas of pink peppercorns, violet florals, bright cherry and cranberry fruits with some earthy ferrous notes. The palate has a lovely balance of fresh red berry fruits, dried herb and a refreshing crunch. The tannins meld nicely with the fruits. The site, season and variety have been a true trifecta here!
Winemaking Notes: Picked on the 21st of March
Vinification & Elevage: The fruit was fully destemmed as whole berries, with a short cold soak before fermentation and 14 days on skins. The wine was then pressed into French oak barriques for malolactic conversion, where it remained on lees in oak for 10 months.
